Continuation of employment in this position is contingent upon funding by the sponsored agency.
*This position oversees and administers training programs and operations under the DOJ COPS De-Escalation Training program grant and performs a wide variety of duties associated with sworn officer and civilian de-escalation training courses and other program activities as needed.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provide administrative support and oversight, in conjunction with graduate assistants and student workers, including answering telephones, typing, filing, recordkeeping, timesheets, and training reservations; Provide primary coordination, organization, and implementation of de-escalation training programs for sworn and civilian personnel; Make class/course, schedule, travel, and lodging reservations as needed; Serve as a primary or assistant instructor for de-escalation training courses as needed; Assist in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of consultant trainers; Communicate with other center personnel, university personnel, community stakeholders, training consultants, and program participants through phone calls, emails, memos, and in-person/virtual meetings; Complete and file training logs, spreadsheets, reports, and other records necessary for training programs and activities;Maintain files and records for grant reporting; Maintain de-escalation training certification records; Maintain full responsibility for all office projects and procedures;Perform all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of training program development, coordination, implementation, operation, and reporting functions; Knowledge of program budget recordkeeping, scheduling, and tracking; Knowledge of university policies, services, and procedures; Ability to learn, interpret, and apply the policies, procedures, laws, and regulations of the DOJ COPS grant; Ability to organize and implement training programs and activities; Ability to use a PC, type with speed and accuracy, operate/maintain office equipment, and operate Microsoft 365 applications and other currently-utilized technology, as well as quickly adapt to newly-implemented technology solutions; Ability to work independently, multi-task, and problem-solve; Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written formats, as well as understand and comply with instructions furnished in the same formats; Ability to diplomatically resolve situations to the satisfaction of all concerned; Ability to collect, organize, and maintain records and filing systems; Ability to work some nights and weekends, as requested; Ability to professionally and accurately compose correspondence; Ability to handle telephone calls in a pleasant, courteous, and informative manner; Ability to cordially greet students, faculty, and other university personnel and answer questions to provide general office information and assistance; Ability to proofread and review documents and correspondence to insure proper format and accuracy; Ability to effectively interact with a diverse array of students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, visitors, and the general public.
