We are seeking Project Engineers for Summer 2024 who are passionate about sustainability, driven by curiosity and keen to grow, learn, develop and thrive in our high-performance culture.
This opportunity will be a 12-week, paid internship beginning June 3, 2024.
This internship opportunity will be located in Muscle Shoals, AL Your Responsibilities: This position reports to Corporate Engineering, working closely with the site production, maintenance and support groups.
The task will include duties such as capital improvement projects, equipment reliability improvement proposals, environmental impact reductions.
Assist with implementation of in-progress approved projects.
Identify projects which benefit the facility in areas such as; Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Environment Develop cost and timing for potential capital projects.
Develop Business Case in support of expenditure.
Investigate and develop solutions for issues raised by site staff.
Attend site meetings to ensure alignment with projects and current issues.
Create a presentation at the end of your internship to executive leadership regarding what you have learned and what you believe you have contributed to the business.
Transition New Products through development of effective manufacturing processes and equipment operation working collaboratively with a multi-functional team to achieve success.
Perform trials, studies and capability analyses as needed to effectively understand and improve process capabilities.
Demonstrate use of statistical methodologies to understand, analyze and drive reduction in process variation in facilities.
Support development and implement action plans for continuous improvements and cost savings.
Optimize production processes by driving safety, quality & efficiency.
We’re Looking for: Engineering students looking to develop their project management capabilities.
Students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical engineering or other Science, Mathematics Strong academic performance.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) Knowledge of CAD software Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
Team oriented and able to work with all levels of the organization.
Willing to spend time out in the field getting to know the business first hand.
Schedule and Environment: This is an onsite role; the intern will be expected to be onsite Monday - Friday and work an 8-hour shift (40 hours per week is mandatory).
The position is office based however a significant proportion of the time will need to be spent around both the internal manufacturing equipment line and the outside equipment utilities.
You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from your worksite for the summer.
The tasks may include environments that vary in temperature and debris.
Throughout the duration of your internship, you may be required to travel for site tours, shadow experiences, or intern events.
