Materials Manager
POSITION SPECIFICS
Reports To: Sr.
Director of Supply Chain or Plant Manager (with a dotted line) FLSA Status: Exempt ROLE SUMMARY Oversee and coordinate all the Raw and Packaging Materials at Raybern Foods Operational Sites.
Responsible for the accurate planning and execution of purchasing and production activities to support the delivery of AOP costs and Customer Service Levels (fill rate).
Position is a key member of the Integrated Business Planning team, providing the linkage between the Demand Plan and Production/Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Supply Planning Leads production planning and scheduling based on sales forecasts.
Create and deliver the weekly production plan to service the demand plan at the required service levels.
Ensure properly finished goods inventory targets are set and maintained.
Generate all finished goods work tickets and escalate delinquent work ticket closures as needed.
Materials Management Manage the on-site, multi-shift operation of the Decant area/operation to a 98%+/- inventory accuracy.
Oversee the consumption of materials and assist in the elimination of waste.
Enforce practices that enhance transactional integrity and "Doing It Right the First Time".
Participate in all daily directional settings (DDS).
Ensure that Supervisors are partnering with internal teams: Operations (as Internal Customer), Scheduling/Planning (ensure WIP does not devolve to Waste), QA (ensure quality of WIP & Stock and Stock Rotation).
Provide input to Supply Chain, Scheduling and Quality Assurance Managers on products soon to expire to reduce and/or eliminate expired product occurrences utilizing Food Banks and other charities.
Assist Quality Assurance and Production teams in auditing components for quality specification compliance.
Provide analysis and recommendations on potential issues with standard waste factors being utilized.
Work with Scheduling and Supply Chain departments to reduce component inventory as close to 'just-in-time' as possible.
Responsible for the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of components to meet the production plan.
Collaborate with Production and QA researching on raw and packaging material variances.
Collaborate with Commercialization in preparation for pilots and/or fit tests.
Work with Food Safety and QA teams to ensure full compliance when prepping for Food Safety audits.
Assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of quality issues, material failures and defects.
Oversee the cycle count process.
Other duties as assigned.
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Plant Buyer, Logistics/Warehousing Manager (later), cycle count clerks (TBD).
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Four-year College degree or equivalent; or 5+ years of related experience and/or training in a food or food related industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS APICS certification is a plus.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Required skills in communication, problem solving, decision-making, prioritizing work, and organization.
Ability to motivate and lead a team.
Good spoken and written communication ability.
Working experience with Microsoft Office applications.
Working experience operating Stand-Up Reach Trucks.
Expectation is that 70% of workday is spent on the floor.
Required to work around Power Industrial Trucks.

Training is also required on how to identify food safety issues such as temperature control, cross-contamination, sanitation, and cleanliness of the lines, etc.
