Job Summary
The Operations Leader will lead, mentor, and manage the front line supervisors for the APU.
Responibilites
Reports directly to the APU Manager
Manages day-to-day activities of supervisors to support APU objectives in safety, quality, volume, and cost standards
Accountable for performance management; mentors and develops team for advancement in operational excellence
Promotes safety awareness in the work force
Motivates supervision in promoting safe behaviors and eliminating risks
Inspects area for unsafe or unclean conditions
Appoints area of responsibilities for housekeeping and hazard prevention.
Evaluates results of safety meetings and provides recommendations for continued improvement
Enforces accountability
Monitors activity of supervisors and ensures correct application of union contract; assists with employee administering of employee discipline as necessary
Monitors product quality to ensure customer specifications are being met or exceeded
Communicates and collaborates with upstream/downstream operations and support functions to support performance targets
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field required with minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in Cold Rolling or a related area or minimum 5 years supervision in fast-paced, heavy manufacturing environment; experience in metals preferred
Passionate about safety
Result orientation, problem solving, and change management
Good communication, high level of autonomy, self-control, collaboration and interpersonal skills are equally important
Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment to successfully execute business objectives
Proven experience and collaboration with production, maintenance, engineering, procurement, finance and quality functions in a plant environment
Proficiency in MS Office (e.
g.
Excel, Office, Powerpoint)
Proven ability to hold others accountable and to lead by example
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required; SAP knowledge, preferred
Solid reasoning ability is required to contribute to solving challenges as they arise in a fast paced dynamic manufacturing environment
Language fluency in English is required.
Ability to work in extreme temperatures in plant environment often requiring extensive walking or moving about the plant or standing for long periods of time

With its widest strip mill in the USA and a world-class recycling center, the site represents one of the largest sites within Constellium and is a world-class can recycling center, with the capacity to recycle nearly 20 billion cans per year.
Muscle Shoals’ main product is aluminum can sheet for the packaging industry, particularly for beverage containers.
It manufactures sheet used in all three components of an aluminum can, namely body stock, coated end stock and tab stock.
Additionally, Muscle Shoals’ supplies Auto Body Sheet substrate to Constellium’s Bowling Green, Kentucky, site.
