Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Production Planner is to review customer demand and to organize production orders to cover with enough lead time to ensure on time delivery.
The Production Planner is responsible for a single product line from ingot production / procurement through shipment to customer.
They need to be able to work closely with Capacity Planning, Production Scheduling, Operations, Quality/Technical, and Sales to ensure successful production of finished goods.
Responsibilities:
Review of inventories daily to identify any gaps in supply versus customer demand
Review production order quantities and the demand/capacity balance on key machine centers to ensure enough capacity exists to make production target dates
Review production schedules daily to ensure priorities are being covered
Review of diversion requests daily to ensure metal is being applied to active customer demand
Provide pack priorities to operations to ensure we are packing top priority
Review ingot purchase requirements to ensure we are applying inventory efficiently before purchasing new metal
Review trial plans from Quality/Technical and ensure they are executed successfully
Review aged inventories weekly and develop plans to get metal processed
Qualifications:
5 to 7 years of experience in logistics/transportation, customer service and/or product scheduling in a manufacturing environment (aluminum industry preferred).
High school education or equivalent required; college degree preferred
Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
Result orientation, accountability, negotiation, problem solving, project and change management, and team working/building
Good communication, high level of autonomy, collaboration and interpersonal skills are equally important
Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment
Ability to work in cross-organizational and multi-functional teams in a global matrix organization with manufacturing operations and an international mindset
Language fluency in English is required.
French or German would be a plus

Constellium Muscle Shoals is a major aluminum sheet supplier for the packaging and automotive markets.
The plant has ~1,200 employees and more than 100 acres under room, including five casting units, hot and cold rolling mills, and a slitting and finishing center.
Muscle Shoals produces aluminum sheet for use in all three components of beverage cans (body stock, coated end stock, tab stock) and has the capacity to produce over 1 billion pounds per year of finished aluminum coils.
The plant also produces aluminum automotive coils to be processed at our CALP line in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
