Responsibilities
Identify metrology department equipment needs and maintain equipment certifications
Manage a team of technicians to ensure all dimensional data requests are completed accurately and timely
CATIA or 3D CAD experience to work with native files as well as STEP and IGES to compare collected measurement data to nominal condition
Analyze and break down dimensional data to identify source of problems (Sub assembly, Tooling, Supplier part, etc.
)
Actively monitor dimensional accuracy of component build thru various measurement systems (CMM, Faro, Check fixture, Romer, Laser Tracker, 3D scanner, etc.
)
Standardize progress by developing, deploying, and training others on dimensional engineering best practices.
Analyze/Provide data of the outputs and create reports to assist in quality improvement activities
Set up and control calibration activities of the department measuring equipment
Certify fixtures in production line according to calibration schedule and report data comparing to historical measurements
Qualifications
8-10 years’ experience with demonstrated leadership in Metrology and Measurement Equipment
Excellent understanding of GD&T and ability to create datum strategies that minimize tolerance stack-up in critical areas
Automotive/Manufacturing/Quality experience a plus
Strong mechanical intuition and extensive hands-on experience modifying tooling, fixtures, etc.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and make corrections if needed
Experienced with CAD design software (CATIA is a must)
Strong ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-pace environment
Inspection equipment programming and operation experience: Experience with structured light scanning systems, laser trackers and/or FARO arms preferred
Strong statistical and problem-solving capability
Ability to effectively lead team of technicians and coordinate work flow
