GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: The Engineering Technician II (AOS Systems Technician) is responsible for performing instrument maintenance and operation in support of the U.
S.
Department of Energy (DOE) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Third Mobile Facility (AMF3) at the Bankhead National Forest (BNF) site at or near Moulton, Lawrence County, AL.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Maintain calibrations, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of AOS instruments.
Coordinate all AOS tasks with ARM AOS Mentors and the BNF Site Operations Manager.
Monitor and report on AMF3 AOS status and troubleshooting efforts.
Provide weekly status information to the BNF Site Operations Manager.
Provide monthly AOS summary information to the BNF Site Operations Manager for Monthly Summary Report.
Perform preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance for AMF3 Greenhouse gas measurement systems.
Act as alternate for daily PM/CM Main Site rounds technician.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
An Associate's Degree or equivalent is preferred.
Must maintain a Rad Worker 1 status to perform tasks and maintenance with instruments having Radiation source material.
Must have a working knowledge of work practices, methods, processes, and skills in the computer operator/IT field, to include experience with Windows Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
).
Must be a self-starter, team player, detail oriented, and possess strong organizational skills.
Must have a working knowledge and comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
Must possess a valid driver's license and driving history must meet company standards throughout employment.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a background check as a condition of employment and to obtain access to federal installations.
