Analyze and maintain daily/weekly/quarter recruiting and retention goals.
While focusing on team building skills like communication, planning, and problem-solving with drivers and office staff.
*Job Duties/Essential Functions*: The Driver Recruiter/Trainer is responsible for sourcing, screening, interviewing, and assessing driver candidates, developing best practices of recruiting qualified drivers of the highest caliber, and providing continuous training for drivers to maintain best in class driving skills.
*+ Successfully hire qualified CDL dump truck drivers with the following qualifications:* * Approved Driving record (Clean-MVR) * Clearinghouse consent * Employment history verification (minimum 3 years’ experience) * Pre-Employment DOT drug screen * Current CDL license * Driver road test * Current DOT Medical card along with National Registry of Certified Medical Examines *+ Manage random drug and alcohol program.
* *+ Schedule and conduct new driver(s) orientation and on-going training to ensure drivers are fully equipped with the tools and knowledge to perform the following daily task.
* * Pre/Post trip inspection * Proper fueling * Correctly hook/unhook for trailers * On-site training of quarry’s location and material at each quarry * Loading and Unloading training and guidelines * Incident and accident procedures * Conduct periodic safety meetings with drivers * Roadside inspection and citation procedures *+ Ability to train driver(s) on technology and functional aspect of company devices and software.
* *+ Ensure driver(s) DOT files are maintained:* * Conduct annual MVR * Conduct annual Clearinghouse inquiring * Complete periodic reports related to hiring, attrition, retention and safety *+ Fill in for drivers who are unavailable on critical, time sensitive loads.
* *+ Make occassional runs for OTR delivery or pickup of materials needed on job-sites.
* *Competencies & Skills:* * Ability to maintain confidentiality * Attention to details * Creative * Must be organized with the ability to multi-task * Team building * Promote positive work culture *Work Environment:* The work environment ranges from sedentary office with a controlled temperature and conditions to outdoors where temperature is dictated by the seasons.
This position also requires the trainer to operate a truck or conduct a ride-along in truck cab conditions.
Additionally, the trainer will be required to perform ground duties at job-sites, again exposing the person to outdoor weather conditions.
*Physical Demands:* * Must be physically able to safety enter and exit the cab of all power units in operation at Century Construction numerous times daily in the performance of their job.
* Must be able to sit for extended periods of time in the CMV you are dispatch to operate.
* Must be able to operate the CMV in all weather conditions and on all types of terrain.
* Must be physically able to walk, bend reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, climb grasp, lift, and handle heavy equipment components and related accessories as required to perform job.
* Perform vehicle inspection required under FMCSR section 396.
13, including pulling open the tractor hood, brake inspection, crawling under tractor and trailer for inspection.
* Must be physically able to operate and exercise sliding king pin/5th wheel as required by dispatch.
*Expected Hours of Work* Business demands and responsibilities dictate the work schedule for the person in this position.
There is no set schedule, however, it is expected that the individual in this role reports to work as early as needed whether on-site or at a customer location.
Also, it is expected that the job is never left abandoned or incomplete when critical circumstances must be managed.
*Travel: * * As needed based on day-to-day operation of trucking division.
*Required Education and Experience:* * Strong understanding of DOT and FMCSA * Minimum 3 years CDL experience * Familiarity with safe operation and preventive maintenance on truck and trailer *Required Certifications/Licensing:* * Valid CDL driver – satisfactory and safe driving record * Valid DOT medical card * Clearinghouse - no violation *Other Duties:* * Assisting with Dispatch as needed * Truck/Trailer assignment to driver * Hot shot load(s) as needed * Working with job site superintendent to ensure driver are performing withing the customer’s or quarry guidelines.
