Senior Buyer

*Job Description/Summary:* The Oliver Companies are looking for a highly talented Senior Buyer that will be responsible for the planning and purchasing of direct/indirect materials to support our production schedule, and plan production to drive demand.
This position will work directly with suppliers externally and internally to ensure on time delivery while managing inventory levels to prevent shortages.
This position is in Hohenwald, TN.
*Primary Responsibilities:* * Workflow purchase orders to suppliers and expedite as required.
* Research to become familiar with what products are available as well as their costs and benefits.
* Analyze inventory levels with demand and material demands.
* Keep detailed records and prepare and submit necessary reports.
* Maintain professional relationships with suppliers.
* Ensuring parts and materials are available so that production is not disrupted.
* Monitor hot orders or past due orders and initiate expediting as needed.
* Participate and lead in periodic physical inventory.
* Track internal material breakdowns and determine corrective actions to eliminate reoccurrences.
* Review production schedule for adjustments in sales orders and adjust purchases as needed.
* Generally, works in an office environment but is also required to perform job duties in a typical manufacturing setting.
* Procures materials components, equipment, supplies and services necessary for the operation of the company.
* Plan, schedule, and monitor goods and services to meet the production requirements of the company employing such techniques but not limited to JIT, Kanban, Blanket POs, and Reschedules.
* Set-up and maintain material, supplier, and planning system data in the ERP system.
* Exercise a good working knowledge of goods, services, and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements.
* Establish goals and objectives that support the department and company objectives.
Follow up on objectives to ensure compliance.
* Take on special assignments as warranted, such as projects related product changes or vendor changes.
* Work with receiving finance and suppliers to reconcile discrepancies in receiving and invoicing.
* Develop, Implement, and Support sourcing and supplier management initiatives.
* Negotiate pricing, delivery, lead-time, etc.

*Required Qualifications:* * BS in a Supply Chain and Operations Field, BA equivalent, certification, or relevant work experience * 5-7 year of material buying in a manufacturing setting * Extensive knowledge of products and materials * Experience with MRP / ERP systems.
* Strong and written communications skills; ability to communicate with technical and non-technical teams.
* Ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with external partners.
* Must be a highly motivated self-starter, detail-oriented, and be able to work under ambiguity.
* Must be organized and able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
* Must be goal-focused and committed to completing tasks.
* Must have ability to analyze prices and UOM’s from suppliers and consider contract or carrying terms.
