Job description DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the selection, development, training, cross training and supervising of all hourly personnel reporting to position Assures the safety of all employees and ensures that safe working conditions exist in all areas while implementing continuous improvement plans to promote zero unsafe acts, conditions, and influences Conducts thorough investigations / root cause analyses to identify, address, and improve safety, quality, and efficiency opportunities Confer with management team members to establish and enforce quality control and production standards, policies, and procedures Assure all standards are met and ensure compliance with all engineering specifications and certification agencies Plans, monitors, and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations, customer service and cost factors Control inventory, scrap, and material utilization Coordinates production activities with peer leaders, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human capital resources, machines, and equipment Communicate company policies and programs to employees and maintain disciplinary and safety records Reviews and analyzes safety, quality control, and operational reports to determine cause of nonconformity with policies, procedures, product specifications and operating of production problems Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality Consults with maintenance personnel relative to modifications of machines and equipment to improve production and quality of products Assist and mentor the development of those employees identified as possible candidates for future advancement using training programs, educational opportunities, and mentoring to better qualify them for current and future positions within the company Creates an atmosphere and environment that promotes enthusiasm and motivation to achieve established safety, quality, and productivity targets while driving Safety, Integrity, Teamwork, and Innovation Confer with management to uphold company policies, maintain superior employee relations, and attain plant goals Qualifications To perform satisfactorily in this position, the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required Reasonable accommodations will be made to able individuals with certain disabilities to perform the essential functions Ability to read, write, and comprehend various documents including safety policies, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence The ability to communicate knowledge and information (in both large small group situations) to employees at all levels Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions and percentages is required The ability to apply concepts of statistics and probability is desired Ability to apply thought leadership and understanding to interpret various reports and other forms of documentation that are furnished in written, oral or diagram form is required Ability to provide critical thinking, be decisive through an unbiased approach, resolve conflict, and practice emotional intelligence when facing team member issues and concerns Candidates are preferred but not required to possess a basic knowledge of welding and welding processes Candidates should be energetic, possess the ability to energize others, make calculated decisions, and execute tasks efficiently While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear The employee is frequently required to walk The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally performs near moving mechanical parts and is seasonally exposed to cold or hot environment The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate to high Hearing protection is required High School Diploma Minimum 2 yrs.
