Construction laborers at FMI could perform a variety of task at different construction sites and company owned property.
Tasks that require little skill can be learned quickly, while other tasks might require considerable experience or training.
FMI Management will never knowingly put an team member in an environment or situation that could cause injury to him/her, fellow team members or the general public.
FMI general laborers are often asked to work outside in all kinds of weather and do physical labor at times.
Listed below are job duties of a General Laborer at FMI could be asked to perform:
* Cleaning and preparing a jobsite: Use of shovel, rake, broom, picks, pressure washers, chainsaws, jackhammers, plate tamps, jumping jacks, operating a motorized broom or any other type of tool or operation if non-skilled required equipment.
* Loading, unloading, or moving material.
If material is too heavy for one person to safely lift or move, the employee must get help to safely complete the task.
* Using Hand Tools and Power Tools: All new team members are trained in the proper use and safety of hand and power tools.
The tools include but are not limited to…drills, hammers, pliers, skill saws, chainsaws, demo saws, chop saws, bench grinders and hand grinders, rakes, shovels, picks and any other kind of hand or power tool necessary to complete the task.
Maintain tools in good condition.
* Safely and properly use ladders.
Ladder safety is covered with all new hire employees.
* Operate non-skilled equipment; Pad foot rollers, smooth drum rollers, and motorized sweepers are some examples.
* Assist in the laying of sewer, water, or electrical lines, concrete or piping.
* Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
Direct vehicle traffic
* Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
* Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact or level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers or rakes.
* Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment.
* Follow supervisor’s instructions.
* Assist in training new employees.
* Notify supervision of any absences or tardiness.
* Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
Grout structures as needed.
* Identifying hazardous conditions and reporting them to your supervisor.
* Working safely at all times.
* Performing general physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing.
Lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling material.
Any manual task needed to complete the task safely.
