*Purpose of Position:* The Aircraft Structural Mechanic is responsible for assessing aircraft damage and drafting repair procedures to aircraft structural and composite components.
Must be able to utilize advanced metalworking practices and techniques to form, cut, bend, and fasten new / repair components to damaged structures.
Must be proficient in close tolerance drilling/reaming for installation of high-strength fasteners.
Able to use powered / non-powered metalworking tooling and equipment.
This role is full time in Muscles Shoals Alabama Northwest Regional Airport supporting the installation of UH-60 and CH-47 Maintenance Work Order (MWO) programs.
*Duties and Responsibilities (Essential):* · Inspect / assess damage to aircraft structural components and formulate proper repair/replacement procedures utilizing applicable technical data.
· Remove and install close tolerance, high-strength fasteners in major aircraft structural components.
· Advises on structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatment with respect to original strength, weight, and contour to maintain structural integrity.
· Performs post repair flight control weight and balance functions as well as control surface rigging per designated technical orders.
· Inspect components/repairs for structural serviceability according to specifications and technical publications.
· Manufactures / use jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds to fabricate repair or replacement parts.
· Uses advanced metalworking practices, equipment, and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components.
· Uses shop drawing and metal layout techniques; shop mathematics; corrosion identification, removal, repair, and prevention; cleaning of metals; application of protective coatings, and markings.
· Closes completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems.
· Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.
· Stores, handles, and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards and company processes.
· Operates and maintains related aircraft Support Equipment (SE).
· Use automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and time change database.
· Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.
· Maintain strict tool control procedures.
Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor.
Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and replace worn or broken tools.
· Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance.
Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.
· Maintain equipment records.
Enter in the maintenance records a description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily.
· The Aircraft Structural Mechanic is required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
*Qualifications: * · Active Security Clearance – Secret or higher · High School Graduate or GED · Documented training (by validation of qualifying factors to include documented prior military experience and training) on the MDS UH60 and CH47 series.
· Three (3) years of experience, minimum, on the MDS UH60 and CH47series system.
· Knowledge of military publications including electronic logbooks, manuals, drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams, and schematics is mandatory.
· Valid driver’s license required.
*Desirable:* · FAA A&P license.
Must be current and documented.
· Knowledge of equipment related to individual requirements such as an aircraft structure.

· Knowledgeable in fabrication / repair / replacement of metal components, tubing, cable, plastic, fiberglass, bonded honeycomb, and composite structural components.
· Must be able to utilize respirator, forced air, or other breathing equipment during the performance of assigned duties.
· Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
· Ability to follow processes.
· Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
*Physical Factors * · Must climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
· Must operate manual tools and power tools.
· Color Vision · Hearing · Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
· The work environment is predominately hangar/warehouse.
· Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing · Occasionally lifts/moves up to 50 pounds.
· Most heavy lifting is accomplished using mechanical devices.
· The work area is primarily aircraft areas, hangars, workshops, and other industrial settings.
