Job Description
Customer Service:
Ensures delivery of outstanding customer service in the performance of assigned duties
Schedule/Pre-Certify/Pre-Registration:
Responsible for scheduling/rescheduling, pre-certifying, and pre-registering patients for appointments, diagnostic tests, and outpatient procedures as ordered by referring physician
Notifies appropriate personnel when there is a scheduling conflict (i.
e.
additional appointment, double-booking of appointments)
Obtains necessary information required for scheduling, pre-certification, and pre-registration
Obtains and/or verifies patient’s demographics, insurance information/eligibility, and benefits
Responsible for informing patients and/or physician staff of the proper preparation and instructions for the tests ordered
Notifies patient of the location of the appointment, test, and/or procedure
Communication:
Responsible for answering the telephone in a courteous and professional manner
Maintain effective communication with physician offices and ancillary departments
Effectively communicate with patient(s) and/or family members
Reporting:
Records patient information in scheduling system (i.
e.
SCI)
Regulatory Compliance:
Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guidelines
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent; required
Minimum of 1 year medical insurance/medical terminology experience; preferred
Hospital or medical setting; desired
Excellent customer services and communication (written and verbal) skills; required
Working knowledge computers and software programs (i.
e.
Microsoft Office Suite); required
Knowledge of office equipment such as telephone and fax machine; required
Strong interpersonal skills; required
