#WhatConnectsYou Job Description Management: Plans and directs personnel to perform pre-verification of patient insurance, registration, time of service collections and charge entry Ensure accurate patient billing and efficient account collection at the time of service Manages and Overseas Coders and Admission Discharge Specialist for Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology for Tupelo and Starkville locations.
Coding/Reimbursement: Assigns codes for diagnoses, treatment, and procedures according to the appropriate classification system Utilizes coding principles/guidelines such as ICD-9CM , ICD-10-CM/PCS, and CPT Coding Reviews provided documentation to determine principal diagnosis, complications, secondary condition, etc.
Assigns present on admission (POA) value for inpatient diagnoses Reporting/Recordkeeping: Develops, implements and monitors reports for coding accuracy Generates reports to provide severity-adjusted data Leadership: Develops policies/procedures within patient scheduling, registration, time of service collections, coding and charge entry Develops work standards and quality monitors Coordinates with the Clinical Practice Manager to optimize the functionality and integrity of the information system(s) Works with information technology personnel to ensure timely and accurate administration of work processes within the system to provide optimal system functionality to practice staff In conjunction with Clinical Practice Manager, acts as liaison with outsourced billing vendor to ensure optimal management of patients’ accounts Prepares, distributes and trains practice managers to populate a “dashboard of key performance indicators” to be completed monthly by managers Communication: Promotes effective communications between front-end staff and claims management and billing follow-up personnel to ensure ongoing education/training and to expedite problem resolution Ensures that policies are communicated and administered consistently Education: Manages Information Systems training personnel assigned to front-end revenue cycle operations Maintains current knowledge of established policies and procedures including patient confidentiality/patient rights, government and third-party payor regulations Regulation: Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues Works closely with site personnel and operations managers to monitor compliance to policies and procedures as they relate to the revenue cycle Job Knowledge RHIT, RHIA, CPC, CCS or Associate’s Degree required / Bachelor’s Degree preferred with concentration in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Revenue Cycle operations; required Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership role involving patient registration, time of service collections and charge entry functions in a multi-specialty setting; required Managing revenue cycle operations through a system conversion; strongly preferred Must possess superior oral and written communication skills; required Excellent interpersonal skills; required Requirements The following are requirements in addition to any stated in the above description.
