*Position Summary:* The Pharmacy Operations Manager assists the Director of Pharmacy in pharmacy operations and medication-use systems.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager, in conjunction with the Pharmacy Director, will strive to deliver quality pharmacy services, collaborating with primary care physicians and staff to improve the health of North Alabama Medical Center patients.
*Responsibilities:* In collaboration with Director of Pharmacy: * Provide supervision and coaching for pharmacists and technicians.
* Develop policies, procedures, and protocols for pharmacy staff.
* Participate in hiring process for pharmacy positions.
* Coordinate pharmacy staff training (initial orientation and ongoing pharmacy team member development).
* Facilitate corrective and disciplinary actions of the pharmacy staff.
Confer with the Director of Pharmacy, HR Director, and hospital administration on employee disciplinary actions, as needed.
* Initiate and implement quality improvement projects in the pharmacy department.
* Oversee records of all transactions of the pharmacy necessary to ensure adequate control over and accountability for all drugs as required by applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations to meet all inspection and other requirements, including Joint Commission, IV cleanroom, and other regulatory agencies compliance.
* Precept pharmacy learners including technicians, students, and residents.
* Covering staff pharmacist shifts, as needed.
* Consult, refer and collaborate with Director of Pharmacy and other disciplines involved in the delivery of patient care for development of programs and services.
Experience: * The Pharmacy Operations Manager requires a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program and/or doctor of pharmacy degree preferred.
Current Alabama license to practice pharmacy with a control substance license is required.
* Requires three years’ minimum experience in a hospital pharmacy with at least one year in a supervisory position managing pharmacists.
