POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
TRUCK DRIVING INSTRUCTOR – PARSONS / CRUMP
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump is accepting applications for the full-time position of Truck Driving Instructor to be initially located at the Parsons Extension Campus in Parsons, Tennessee.
Upon implementation of the TCAT Crump program the position will be relocated to Crump, TN.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have high school diploma
Must hold a valid commercial driver's license in Tennessee
Minimum of five years’ experience as over-the-road driver with exemplary record
Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to organize and provide theoretical and practical instructional activities to enable students to obtain CDL
GENERAL DUTIES:
The truck driving instructor is responsible for teaching all phases of the program to include safety regulations; CDL regulations, traffic laws, road atlas and highway routes; instruments and cab controls; engine and air brake systems, adverse weather condition driving techniques; hazardous materials transportation; clutch, gear and transmission patterns; coupling and uncoupling trailers, obstacle course and backing procedures; defensive driving; and over-the-road driving experiences.
The instructor will also assist with student placement and student follow-up; participate in recruitment of students; cooperate with outside agencies; work with the program advisory committee; conduct visits to related business and industry; and establish and maintain good public relations within the college’s service area.
Other duties include assisting with curriculum development and updates, student record keeping, participation in professional development activities, and participation in student organizations
SALARY: Associate Instructor (A) $47,727 - $57,273, Commensurate with Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Use of computer
Normal standing, sitting, and walking
Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects.
Operating a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and in other areas as needed.
